The Clown Knifefish, also known as the Clown Featherback, is a unique freshwater fish with a distinctive knife-like shape, characterized by its elongated, laterally compressed body and silvery-grey coloration. It's further distinguished by black spots (or dark vertical bands in juveniles) along its sides, a small dorsal fin, and a long anal fin that gives it its name and allows for both forward and backward movement. Native to Southeast Asia, it has also become established in some Florida waterways as an invasive species.

It is a nocturnal, solitary creature that inhabits slow-moving waters in tropical Africa. The black ghost knifefish is a black, tropical South American freshwater fish that grows to 18-20 inches and is characterized by its blade-like appearance due to a lack of dorsal and caudal fins, replaced by a long, wavelike anal fin for maneuverability. It has a white blaze on its nose and two white rings on its tail, and uses an electric organ to navigate and find food. These nocturnal and timid fish require a large, dimly lit aquarium with plenty of hiding places, and can become tame enough to eat from their owner's hands.
