Moderate. Cool water changes can trigger spawning. Females carry eggs to adhesive surfaces (glass, leaves). Eggs hatch in 3-5 days.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivore — sinking pellets/wafers, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, blanched vegetables. They scavenge but need their own food — don't rely on leftovers.
Natural Habitat
Native to slow-moving rivers and streams in South America. Found in sandy or muddy substrates where they sift for food with their barbels.
Care Tips
Use sand or smooth gravel substrate — sharp gravel damages their barbels
Always keep in groups of 6+ of the same species — they're highly social
Excellent 'cleanup crew' but still need targeted feeding with sinking foods
Very sensitive to salt — never use aquarium salt with corydoras
Active during the day, especially at feeding time — fun to watch
